It encompasses both our organizational ethics and our personal code of conduct that stems from an individual sense of what’s right. It's how we think and how we work. Complete transparency. We want you to know how investors view your company, how your company is valued in the market, and what price is being offered for your financing. We want you to know when a transaction is going well, when it’s not, and what we’re doing about it.

Expertise. Our principals use their financial, analytic, marketing and negotiation skills to execute transactions across several disciplines. Although we can advise on any number of potential financing transactions, we specialize in consumer, healthcare, manufacturing, industrial, and business services.


CEO and Managing Director

Brooks Crankshaw grew-up in the Midwest and has more than 25 years of investment banking experience advising companies in business services, manufacturing, health care, consumer, energy, and retail in the U.S. and abroad. He founded Highland Ridge Capital in 2011 after an 18-year tenure with JP Morgan Chase and its predecessor companies.

An author and editor, Brooks has been published in various periodicals including Insider Quarterly, International Finance & Treasury, TheStreet.com, Axial Forum, and MiMfg Magazine (Michigan Manufacturing Association). He is frequently quoted in the media, most recently in MergerMarket and on Bloomberg Radio.

Brooks is a Trustee of Lawrence Hall, a child welfare agency focused on treating, educating, and empowering at-risk youth and their families in the Chicago area. He earned a Master in Business Administration in finance and corporate strategy from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Michigan. Brooks is a FINRA-Registered Principal with Growth Capital Services, Inc. (Member FINRA/SIPC).

Steve Garrou

Technology Advisor

With more than 20 years of experience leading strategic go-to-market initiatives for innovative IT services and business solution companies, Steve Garrou currently serves as the President of G6 Advisors, Ltd., a boutique consulting firm specializing in portfolio management and mergers and acquisition consulting in the technology sector.

Previously, Steve was Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Solutions Development for Westcon-Comstor, a $6B global IT distributor. He directed the company’s cloud services businesses – as well as all strategy, M&A and go-to-market activity.

He is an industry veteran who has led the development and go-to-market strategies for top, innovative IT brands, including CenturyLink, Avanade/Accenture, AT&T and Unisys as well as more entrepreneurial ventures.
